Pumk and Alley Demo - The Pumpkin Patch!

Hi everybody, thanks so much for all the support and kindness in response to the announcement of this game! After receiving feedback and taking a short break, we have some minor changes to show:

Additions:

  • ??? (added a secret to the secret thing) (secret thing still has not been discovered)
  • Video option to lower settings automatically if framerate is consistently below 15 FPS. Henceforthly dubbed potato sensor. On by default.
  • 32-bit build for windows


Changes:

  • Adjusted animations and animation speeds
  • Health is now fire-like to avoid association with fairy bits
  • Pumk does not get stuck sliding indefinitely anymore
  • Pumk and Alley are both slightly faster
  • Pumk's jumps have her collider shrink so she can ascend up onto platforms easier
  • Pumk's initial jump is higher and doesn't rely on holding the button down as much
  • Pumk's second jump is slightly higher and not affected by holding the jump button
  • Pumk's jumps do not slow down lateral movement as much
  • Pumk's jumps are not initiated after diving if you happened to hold the jump button from the start of the dive
  • Reduced dive cooldown very slightly
  • Moved some fairy bits away from the out-of-bounds areas
  • Fairy bits shake slightly as you get closer (very subtle)
  • Some scene objects don't affect the camera anymore
  • Adjusted some platforms - it is harder but still possible to leave the main playable areas (future levels for the full game will be built differently)
  • Removed a bit of clouds for performance (they're expensive! better shader in the works)
  • Camera swing is a lot nicer around corners
  • Camera flash to provide visual feedback for taking pictures (does not affect the picture taken)
  • Minor UI changes
  • Slightly lighter lighting (negligible)
  • Camera is higher above Alley now (helped with the next change)
  • Camera can look up more
  • Disabled compression for button prompt texture (I don't know if anyone noticed but it was looking slightly funky)
  • Alley's phone has a larger range of zoom
  • Alley's first person view rotates slower based on zoom level


Fixes:

  • Opening Photo album works on Mac and Linux now
  • Save files and photo album use / instead of \ for directories
  • Missing button prompts fixed (I missed some, but also the dualshock button names Unity wanted were inconsistent (r1 and lb for example) (also some keyboard layouts have a different translation of "tab" or "space" which has now been accommodated for)
  • Missing sign texts fixed (a localisation script tried to translate signs without having a translation)
  • Resolution text fields in video settings don't trap your navigation input anymore 
  • Custom generated PlayerSettings JSON no longer has crazy symbols (you can find it in the game files from accessing the photo album)
  • Decals are now visible on lowest quality settings through Alley's camera (depth textures were disabled)
  • Removed camera shake at certain angles
  • Various Alley Oop problems fixed
  • Signs don't take longer than they should to finish anymore
  • Secret minor fix
  • Photos were saved with .jpg on the end but encoded as PNGs (now they are .png)

We aren't planning any other patches for this demo. The next version of the game you will be able to play will be the finished game. We're looking into crowdfunding via Kickstarter - stay tuned for updates on that (follow this itch page and https://twitter.com/TheHippocrit).
